Samel Craft’s Canal

September 10, '22. This group is sitting on what remains of the canal that Samuel Crafts had built in the 1840s, that diverted water that flowed from Paige and Heart Ponds in Albany, towards Little Hosmer, to be sure that there was enough water to keep the Mill Village mills running. Access is from the Academy woodlot, and the walk out and back is well marked.

Samuel Crafts was a surveyor, and he used his skills to build a canal that would bring water to Little Hosmer to feed the mills in Mill Village. Come to the talk/walk this coming Saturday for a chance to learn more about this considerable feat of engineering.
